Thrive Opens in East Columbus: More Dispensaries, More Competition, Better Prices?

By Mastamynd | Ohio Cannabis Live | October 2026

Another cannabis dispensary has opened on the east side of Columbus, and this one is right in my neighborhood!

I recently attended the grand opening of Thrive Dispensary at 2025 Brice Road in Reynoldsburg. With Thrive opening, that brings the number of dispensaries in my immediate neighborhood to three. I was excited to see a previously vacant building brought back to life, another business investing in East Columbus, and hopefully more competition that could help lower prices for consumers.

More Than Just Another Dispensary

One thing that stood out was the community involvement. I met Thrive’s leadership, spoke with friendly and welcoming staff, and connected with representatives from the local Reynoldsburg business community.

I also met the owners of DS Lounge Bar and Grill, a popular neighborhood spot behind Thrive. I’ve known about the restaurant for years, but this event gave me my first opportunity to connect with the people behind it. That’s what community development should look like!

When dispensaries open, I’d love to see more neighboring restaurants, small businesses, community organizations, and local media involved. Those connections help us learn, collaborate, and grow together.

Buying Cannabis in Ohio Has Changed!

Here’s something consumers might not realize: you can browse cannabis products and place an order right from your phone. Many licensed Ohio dispensaries offer online menus and ordering for in-store pickup. Shop Thrive online: thrivedispensaries.com.

• Adult-use shoppers: You must be 21 or older and show valid government-issued photo identification.
• Medical patients: Eligible registered patients can still shop through Ohio’s medical program and avoid the additional 10% adult-use excise tax on qualifying medical purchases.
• Veterans: Ask about available discounts; offers vary by location.
• Online pickup: You still need to verify your eligibility and identification when collecting an order.

Will More Dispensaries Mean Lower Prices?

With three dispensaries now serving my immediate neighborhood, I’m hopeful increased competition will mean better prices, more choices, and better customer service. More stores don’t automatically guarantee lower prices: taxes, product availability, and operating costs still matter.

I also appreciated Thrive’s emphasis on medical cannabis patients. As Ohio’s adult-use market grows, we cannot forget the patients who helped establish this industry.

Thank You, Thrive!

I want to personally thank Thrive Dispensary for inviting me to its grand opening and welcoming Ohio Cannabis Live into the celebration.

Beyond the ribbon-cutting, I appreciated the chance to forge new connections, learn more about businesses in my own neighborhood, and meet people who share a genuine passion for the cannabis plant and the positive role it can play in people’s lives. That’s what bringing the cannabis community together is all about!

As Brice Road, Reynoldsburg, and East Columbus continue to develop, I hope we see more businesses creating opportunities to connect and support one another.
