First Batch of Ohio Cannabis Cultivators and Processors Approved for Recreational Sales
In a significant move for Ohio's cannabis industry, the Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) has announced the approval of the first recreational marijuana licenses for growers and processors, with 230 dual-license applications received so far. Of these, 226 provisional licenses have been granted, and 10 have been approved for certificates of operation. Notably, the majority of these provisional licenses—133 in total—have been issued to existing medical cannabis dispensaries, ensuring that established operations can smoothly transition to the recreational market. This step marks a major shift from a medical-only market to one that includes recreational use. Despite these advancements, it’s important to note that no dispensary currently holds a certificate of operation to sell recreational cannabis.
